Hola! My name is Deborah Leestma. I am the part-time, K-8 Spanish teacher here at Lansing Christian School. I graduated from Purdue University Calumet in 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish Teaching. I later earned my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Olivet Nazarene University in 2011. I also taught Spanish at Bolingbrook High School for 7 years.
My mother is originally from Mexico so I grew up hearing Spanish. Being a part of a bilingual household and studying and traveling abroad instilled in me a love for the language and culture. When I found out about this position, I never felt more of a calling to use my talents and abilities to serve God’s people. It is my goal to combine my knowledge, experience and faith to be a compassionate and enthusiastic teacher who will set a positive example for students. As an LCS alum and parent of a current LCS student, I am very excited to be a part of this wonderful staff and community. I will be in the building Mondays and Thursdays, but can be easily contacted by email any day at [email protected] |
